Food enthusiasts, take note. The MICHELIN Guide has officially set its sights on the Philippines! Known worldwide for recognizing the best in gastronomy, the prestigious guide will soon highlight the country’s vibrant and diverse culinary scene, with its first selection of restaurants set to be unveiled in late 2025.
The MICHELIN inspectors—anonymous and meticulous in their craft—are already exploring Manila and Cebu. Additionally, the guide has begun exploring the neighboring regions of Metro Manila including Pampanga, Tagaytay, and Cavite. Restaurants are carefully evaluated based on the guide’s signature criteria: quality of ingredients, mastery of techniques, harmony of flavors, culinary personality, and consistency.
A Recognition of Filipino Culinary Excellence
This milestone marks a new era for the Philippines as a globally recognized dining destination. Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide, shared his excitement about the expansion:
“Our MICHELIN Inspectors have been following the evolution of the Filipino culinary scene with great excitement. The country’s deep-rooted culinary traditions, combined with a strong openness to global influences, create a uniquely diverse dining culture,” said Poullennac.
What This Means for Filipino Dining
The MICHELIN Guide’s presence is expected to inspire chefs, restaurateurs, and food enthusiasts alike. More than just stars and accolades, its arrival solidifies the Philippines’ reputation as a must-visit destination for food tourism. From bustling street food stalls to refined fine-dining establishments, the country’s culinary landscape is finally getting the global attention it deserves.
With anticipation building, all eyes are on the Philippines as we await the official MICHELIN Guide Philippines in 2026. The question now is: Which restaurants will make the cut? Only time and the taste buds of the inspectors will tell!
