Self-Care during Self-Isolation

You got to admit, the lockdown period forced almost everyone to be creative. We keep entertaining ourselves during this [null] time in our lives that almost every quirky little thing became a trend — which isn’t a problem! There was just a point where it got hard to keep up, but we’re getting the hang of it!

I look at all these efforts as almost a cry for help. People had to cope with the fact that this might go on for quite some time and that they have to adapt to the situation. Along with everybody’s stable mental state, the economy is also going down. A huge percent of Filipinos have lost their jobs and are finding ways on how they can support their families and themselves, which resulted in the rise in the numbers of online selling businesses. Pursuing personal projects? Bread Making? We’re all just collectively trying to fill a void that the pandemic has made (and is making) in our lives, and somehow creativity and strategy are what we’re all holding onto in the name of self-care.

With that being said, self-care can come in all forms during the pandemic. Some thrived in self-isolation and focused on themselves. Some started their passion projects-turned businesses. Some used this time to reconcile with their loved ones, and some had to let go. It doesn’t always have to be spa-days and eat-your-cravings days, it can also come in subtle forms, too, such as taking your time in the morning, writing a to-do list to stay organized for the day, and even as much as putting your phone down to breathe for a second. It’s so easy to get lost in the noise of what’s going on around us, so it’s important to remember to ground yourself once in a while. Remember to unwind, be mindful of your overall health, and to remind yourself that self-isolating will keep you and vulnerable people safe from the virus. Pat yourself in the back some time for doing a good job at staying sane throughout the pandemic. You may have been taking care of yourself all along and you don’t even know it.

How have you been taking care of yourself lately?
