CLARK FREEPORT- Clark Development Corporation (CDC) recognized its employees for their recent accreditation in evaluating and designing environmentally friendly buildings as part of its commitment to promoting sustainability and resilience in Freeport.
During the flag ceremony held on June 5, 2023 at Nayong Pilipino Clark, CDC President and CEO Atty. Agnes VST Devanadera recognized 11 CDC employees who earned the Geared for Resilience and Energy Efficiency for the Environment (GREEEN) accreditation. This accreditation evaluates the performance of buildings based on sustainable design and construction principles, with an emphasis on adaptability and climate change resilience.
CDC architects and engineers obtained the GREEEN Accreditation, administered by the Philippine Green Building Initiative (PGBI), through a comprehensive certification examination and a four-day training held on February 17, 18, 24, and 25, 2023. Individuals who pass this exam are certified as professional building assessors in the Philippines.
Accreditation levels for the GREEEN Rating System include Accredited Assessor (AA), Accredited Design Professional (ADP), and Accredited Design Professional Accredited Assessor (ADP+AA), the highest level. It is a vital tool for assessing and enhancing the sustainability and resilience of buildings in the Freeport Zone.
Engineers Ricardo Z. Castañeda, Jr., Jason B. David, Henry P. Panlilio, and Reynold D. Susa have passed the Accredited Design Professional (ADP) examination. Ar. Russell C. Dayrit, Ar. Floyd S. Dizon, Engr. Alexander P. Liwanag, Engr. Nicko Angelo T. Mendoza, Engr. Carmelo G. Pangilinan, Engr. Ronald G. Soriano, and Ar. Daniel Joseph M. Tan passed the accreditation in the Accredited Design Professional/Accredited Assessor (ADP+AA) category.
The purpose of the certification is to incorporate green building principles, sustainable design, technologies, and practices to produce energy-efficient, water-efficient, and environmentally friendly structures. In addition, it seeks to create environmentally responsible built conditions by prioritizing indoor air quality, thermal comfort, natural illumination, and access to nature, resulting in healthier and more productive living, working, and recreational spaces.
This accreditation is consistent with the Green Building Code and serves as a referral code for the National Building Code, ensuring that buildings are planned, designed, constructed, operated, and maintained with the required levels of efficiency.
